Introduction

Khara is a Rakshasa chief who commanded the outpost of Janasthana in the Dandaka forest. He is described as a brother of Shurpanakha.

The battle

When Shurpanakha came to him, Khara sent fourteen of his best fighters, and then a full army of fourteen thousand under his own command with Dushana and Trishiras. Rama fought them alone while Lakshmana guarded Sita, and killed all of them, including Khara.
