Founding a new dynasty
According to the Shahnameh, Kay Kobad was found and brought to the throne with the help of the hero Rostam's ancestors, the house of Sistan, establishing an important, recurring alliance between the Kayanian kings and the heroic family of Sistan that continues through many of the epic's subsequent books.
Legacy
Kay Kobad's founding of the Kayanian dynasty opens the epic's central and most extensive cycle of stories, including the reigns of Kay Kavus, Kay Khosrow, and the deeds of the great hero Rostam across several generations of kings.
