Introduction

Uparichara Vasu is a king of Chedi, and the father of Satyavati and her twin brother by the fish-cursed apsara Adrika.

Family

The flying king

He was called Uparichara, "one who travels above", because Indra gave him a crystal chariot in which he could travel in the sky. His sons founded several kingdoms, including Magadha, whose line produced Jarasandha.
