Family
- Spouse: Amun (married)
- Children: Khonsu
Queen of Thebes
As Amun's cult rose to national prominence, Mut's own status rose alongside it; she was closely associated with queenship and royal motherhood, often depicted wearing the double crown of Egypt, and her great precinct at Karnak remains one of the most substantial temple complexes dedicated to a goddess in Egypt.
Ancient Egyptian religion spanned three millennia and many regional cult centers, so parentage, roles and even gender pairings for a given deity often differ between the Heliopolitan, Hermopolitan, Memphite and Theban theological systems; the account above follows the most widely attested classical version.
