Introduction

Madri is a princess of Madra, the sister of Shalya, and the second wife of Pandu. She is the mother of the twins Nakula and Sahadeva, by the Ashvins.

Kunti gave Madri the mantra to call the gods. She called the twin Ashvins, and had two sons.

Death

When Pandu died as he embraced her, Madri felt she was to blame. She died on his funeral pyre and left her sons in Kunti's care.
