Kichaka

The commander of Virata's army, killed by Bhima after harassing Draupadi.

Accounts of this vary across texts and traditions. This entry primarily follows Mahabharata, with other tellings (Puranic traditions (Harivamsha, Bhagavata Purana), Regional retellings) noted where relevant.

Introduction

Kichaka is the brother of Queen Sudeshna and commander of Virata's army.

Draupadi

Kichaka wanted Draupadi, who lived as a maid in Sudeshna's palace. He kicked her in the court, and Yudhishthira did nothing. She arranged, with Bhima, that Kichaka would come to a dance hall at night, and Bhima killed him.
