Introduction
Electryon was a son of Perseus and Andromeda who ruled as king of Mycenae. He is chiefly remembered as the father of Alcmene, linking the line of Perseus to that of Heracles.

A Bridging Generation
Electryon's reign is thinly recorded compared to his father's exploits, but genealogically he is a crucial link: through Alcmene, the blood of Perseus (and so of Zeus) passes into the house that produces Greece's greatest hero. Tradition holds he was killed by his nephew Amphitryon in an accident involving a thrown club, an episode connected to Amphitryon's subsequent exile and marriage to Alcmene.
As with all figures of Greek heroic legend, sources diverge on many particulars; the account above follows the most widely transmitted classical tradition.
