Introduction

Bharata is the son of Dushyanta and Shakuntala, and a legendary emperor. He is traditionally regarded as the ancestor of the Kuru dynasty, and the country's name Bharatavarsha is derived from his. He is not the same person as Rama's brother Bharata.
