Introduction

Hauhet is the female half of the infinity-pair with Heh, one of the eight primeval Hermopolitan deities.

  • Spouse: Heh (married)

Consort of Boundlessness

As with the other Ogdoad goddesses, Hauhet's identity is defined chiefly by her pairing with Heh; together they represent limitless extension in space and time as a precondition for the created world that followed.

Ancient Egyptian religion spanned three millennia and many regional cult centers, so parentage, roles and even gender pairings for a given deity often differ between the Heliopolitan, Hermopolitan, Memphite and Theban theological systems; the account above follows the most widely attested classical version.
