Agni

The fire god, who returned Sita unharmed from the trial by fire.

Introduction

Agni is the god of fire and the messenger between humans and the gods. In the Ramayana, he is the god who vouched for Sita's purity.

The trial by fire

After Ravana's death, Sita entered the fire. Agni brought her out unharmed and told Rama that she was pure.

Nila

Agni is also the father of the Vanara chief Nila.
